My Experience of Bara Imanbara
We went to Bara Imanbara in Lucknow as part of our week long trip there last week and it was very enjoyable.
History
The building was built as a famine relief centre during a drought in 1984. During the day the poor workers would build and during the night more noble people would work on the site so that no one would no who they are due to the darkness. The building took 11 years to build and took 20,000 workers.
Bara Imanbara
We went to Bara Imanbara during the evening time around 5 O'Clock and it was very beautiful. The gardens outside the main building were very well maintained and people were having picnics and playing there.
Bhool Bhulaiyan
After walking around the gardens we went to the main attraction which is the maze. We got a great tour guide who had been working there for the last 30 years. At the start you have to walk up a lot of stairs before you reach the maze. Without a proper guide I'm not sure if I could've gotten out. There were many different stairs going up and down and many long corridors. Our guide showed us something that was quite fascinating he stood nearly 30 meters away around a corner and whispered a word in the wall. Even though he was so far away the sound travelled through the the walls and we could hear it.
