Brentford vs Arsenal

This game is one of the biggest upsets in recent Premier League seasons.

A bit of history on the two teams. Brentford haven't been in the premier League or first division as it was called since 1947. Arsenal on the other hand is the oldest standing club in the Premier League having been in the Premier League since 1919. Brentford also haven't won any of the big cups such as the FA Cup or Champions League. Arsenal on the contrary has won 14 FA Cups (which is a record), 16 Community Shields and 13 Premier Leagues.

On paper Arsenal looked the better side with £69,000,000 Ben White in central defence and £17,000,000 Sambia Lokongo in midfield but what turned out to be was an utter domination by Brentford. Arsenal's team was far from full strength with both Lacazette and Aubameyang unavailable and replacement striker Eddie Nketia injured. To add to that misery Saka was only fit enough to come on from the bench. But even without these players they had a very solid team with the only inexperienced player being Florian Balogun who was making his league debut. Brentford on the other hand had a team full of youth, talent and experience. And astonishingly not even a single player in the starting XI had played in the premier league previously. They had the attacking flare of Toney and Mbeumo whilst having the the defending solidity of Jansson and Ajer.

The game itself was pretty free flowing with both teams having chances to score, but the bit that Arsenal was lacking in was taking advantage of their chances. Arsenal had 22 shots on goal but only 4 shots on target, Brentford on the other hand had 8 shots with 3 shots on target two of those shots were goals.

Overall Arsenal controlled most of the ball having 65% of possession and making a lot more accurate passes but the passes lead up to nothing.

Overall Brentford were a far better team taking their chances while Arsenal never clicked and ended up looking rather dull with their style of play.
