Arsenal vs Tottenham
A thrilling North London Derby.
Preview
Pre match my thoughts were that it would be a cagy affair with only a goal in it, but in the end Arsenal coming out with the win.
Analysis
The game started of with a minutes silence for the late Jimmy Greaves. After that we were off. The first 10 or so minutes were relatively sloppy from both side but then from a bit of trickery from Saka who slotted it in for Smith-Rowe who bended it around Lloris. The next goal came off a counter attack with Aubameyang smashing into the net off a Smith-Rowe assist. Just minutes after the Smith-Rowe goal Saka placed one into the bottom right corner just avoiding the outstretched hand of Lloris. The 2nd half started rather quietly but then VAR had to check a potential penalty for Arsenal after Sanchez's challenge on Gabriel which was not given much to the dismay of Arteta, but after that Tottenham went on a run of consecutive chances with the new signing Ramsdale being tested and coming out successful, but even he couldn't stop Son's calm finish which deflected off the Arsenal player from close range.
Reenergised Tottenham tried their best to make a miraculous comeback only to be shutdown from a stubborn Arsenal defence. You could see how much that meant to the under pressure Arteta with his full time celebrations.
Player of the Match
My player of the match is definitely Saka, he gave Arsenal that extra stride in their step. His matureness for such a young age is just fantastic to watch the will to never give up even when he was first blocked is simply astonishing and that is why he my player of the match.
Under Performer of the Match
On the other hand my under performer of the match is Harry Kane, I'm not sure why but he looked
slow and not his usual sharp self. In particular he lost possession in lead up to one of the Arsenal goals and in another he did some rather sloppy defending to let Saka in. Another thing is that he missed a rather open goal with Ramsdale scurrying towards him and that is why he my under performer of the match.
Overall Arsenal deserved the win with Tottenham not playing with even a spark of creativity.
