Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

This race was the decider for one of the most captivating seasons In history.

Coming into this race both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were level on points with Verstappen ahead due to him winning more times throughout the season.

Qualifying ended with max on pole and Hamilton 2nd. Max flew through ahead of Hamilton by 3 tenths of a second. Norris qualified an impressive third with Sergio Perez and Carlos Saint closing the top five.

The race started and Hamilton immediately got the jump on Verstappen and by the time they went into turn one Hamilton was ahead. Verstappen was trying to get ahead and lunged into turn 5 and in the process pushing Hamilton off the track Hamilton had to cut the corner and received no penalty doing so.

Then on lap 14 Verstappen pitted allowing his teammate Perez to get into 2nd place. The very next lap Mercedes reacted with Hamilton Pitting this put Hamilton in 2nd Verstappen 3rd and his teammate Perez in 1st.

Next Hamilton was trying to get past Perez but Perez played the team game and backed Hamilton up until when Hamilton was finally able to get past Verstappen wad on lay 1 second behind.

But that 1 second gap soon became 12 seconds and it looked almost certain Hamilton was going to win a record 8th world championship.

Then with five laps to go Latifi crashed bringing out the safety car. Max went straight into the pits and swapped his old hards for new softs. On the Other hand Hamilton didn't want to pit knowing that if he did he would give up track position. The safety car kept going for 4 laps originally lapped cars were not allowed to over take but then on the final lap of the safety car lapped cars were allowed to overtake resulting in a final lap where Verstappen would be directly behind Hamilton with one lap remaining with the faster soft tires.

The final lap started and Verstappen wan on the tail of Hamilton and the his chance came going into turn five Verstappen saw an opening down the inside he lunged down the inside and took the lead of the race he would hold on tho victory and be the younger world champion at age 24
